If you are on the BOM Ebooks forum you can remember two weeks ago I shared dozens of Brian Tracy books… Among his top advice for productivity is a Sense of urgency, focus, and Discipline.
Let me share something on Discipline because, without Discipline, all your other abilities and capabilities are of no use.
According to Brian Tracy, there are nine areas of discipline:
1. Mental discipline – This is the ability to control your thoughts and emotions. It includes being able to focus, concentrate, and learn.
2. Physical discipline – This is the ability to control your body and health. It includes eating healthy, exercising regularly, and getting enough sleep.
3. Emotional discipline – This is the ability to control your feelings and reactions. It includes being able to stay calm under pressure, manage your anger, and be positive.
4. Financial discipline – This is the ability to manage your money wisely. It includes budgeting, saving, and investing.
5. Relationship discipline – This is the ability to build and maintain healthy relationships. It includes being honest, trustworthy, and supportive.
6. Time management discipline – This is the ability to manage your time effectively. It includes setting priorities, planning, and avoiding distractions.
7. Task management discipline – This is the ability to manage your tasks effectively. It includes breaking down large tasks into smaller ones, setting deadlines, and tracking your progress.
8. Goal setting discipline – This is the ability to set and achieve goals. It includes setting specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound goals.
9. Personal development discipline – This is the discipline to continuously improve yourself. It includes reading, learning new skills, and networking with successful people.
Tracy believes that mastering these nine areas of discipline is essential for success in all areas of life.
